Benteke
Will our defence be able to handle him?

Hatrick for his country Belgium this evening against minnows Gibraltar.

The striker also netted the first goal of the game after just SEVEN seconds from the kick-off, to produce a new World Cup qualifying record for the fastest goal scored.

Benteke has been in a rich vein of form, scoring three goals for Palace in September, all with his head. But he showed he is equally as deadly with his feet, firing in the first goal with his left foot this evening.

Palace fans have been delighted with the news and it looks like there's no stopping the club's record signing, with West Ham next in the firing line this Saturday at Selhurst Park.

No problem - was not good enough for us as you know from this very site

Re: Benteke
I'd have bought him....but he started 4 times against us last season and failed to score....so why not.

Re: Benteke
He's better than any of the utter shit that has landed on our doorsteps - Jonathan 'honest trier' Calleri and the plodding Zaza. Would be ironic if he scored.

Crassus, yep true dat. Hands up I was one of the WHO experts (along with a fair few others *cough*) who said he was dog shit hee hee.

Fully expect him to score, sadly.

Re: Benteke
Was gutted we didn't buy him.

Was surprised that 80% of WHO didn't rate him, as he should have been perfect for our style of play.

Re: Benteke
I was surprised so many people thought he's be a terrible signing. I actually thought he was about our level, and players like Lacazette were unrealistic. The club could, and should have bought him.

Re: Benteke
Superb striker. Better than anything we have by a long long way.

Re: Benteke
Was absolutely fucking awful every time I saw him last season.

Looks like he's in his mid 30s.

Re: Benteke
I was anti Benteke, I never thought he was shit but just seemed a bit slow and one dimensional to me to ever be top drawer...happy to admit now that he would have great for us and you have to question why we never got him. Wasn't it to do with wages, and if so how come he went to Palace?

Re: Benteke
Not for me very overrated IMO

Re: Benteke
One Macca, not often you talk bollocks, but is he really better than Carroll? Not for my money. More reliable because he's rarely injured? Yes.

Ginge has lost it,Benteke would murder him now

Re: Benteke
I would say he's a much better player than Carroll.

I think Carroll's a 1 dimensional donkey to be honest. Benteke has much more to his game.

Re: Benteke
Scored a goal in the first 7 seconds, then ended up with a hat trick, yeah he's a bit shit

Definitely better than Zaza

Re: Benteke
So why didn't we sign him? What happened?

If he went to Palace he would have come here.

Re: Benteke
Very good question. Considering the shit we have bought in it's a valid question.

Grumpster 9:42 Tue Oct 11
Re: Benteke
Now I know stats don't always tell a story, but here's how I see it when comparing Carroll to Benteke and I've always stood up for Carroll.

Carroll
276 games and 51 goals

Benteke
240 games and 97 goals

Benteke in England
123 games and 54 goals.

I mean come on, that Villa side he played in was fucking awful and his goal scoring record doesn't lie when he's used correctly.

Re: Benteke
Trouble is people look at his size and instantly think of him like Carroll as an out and out target man.
He's scored some brilliant individual goals in his time over here.
